Memoirs of a First Class Passenger

As a "Non-Well-To-Do" but "well-to-do-enough" to be a luxurious hobo, I decided after an elating weekend with my Family in Florida, I would pay the up charge and sit in first class heading back to NY from Orlando. These are moments I created on Flight 630 to JFK NYC.

Approaching the Airport at a steady speed, spending quality time with my Aunt, chatting about the world and how we live in.

9:10am - I arrive at self-check in where the great plan was hatched! My Fancy Ticket said Boarding is happening at 10:25am.. Perfect I think! Just in time to grab some Chocolate!

9:35am - Sitting at the Gate, excited by my newly changed seat

10:20am- Was actually in my seat and getting comfy as I was greeted by my single serving elderly friend who would be my row mate for the remainder of this flight. Nice older woman who talked to her daughter about the VERY attractive latino boy who pushed her chair straight to the plane and helped her to her seat. He also apparently smelled delicious. When she shuts off her phone she turns to me and asks "are you married to a Latino man?" I say, "I'm not married yet." To which she responds, "good girl! " I immediately love her.

10:35am- round one of beverage service- I order the Chardonnay. Seems like appropriate breakfast wine.

11:20am- 30 mins into our flight and our lunch options are collected "a cold shrimp salad or a hot chicken parmigiana" asks the flight attended with a deliberate roll of the tongue on parmigiana as though she practiced this word in order to make it sound like a meaningful first Class item. I knew I would select the chicken since I don't like seafood, but I felt as though seafood would have been the proper first class decision.

11:36am- 40 mins into the flight, and hot towels come my way. Immediate thoughts are.. I have to get rich so I never fly anything but first class ever again.

11:38am - The flight attendant starts to collect the towels. As I eye everyone else place their towel to the side for collection, I make extra long use of my towel making sure it was totally cooled before letting it go. I rolled my towel nicely and placed it on the tray as she came to collect with her fancy tongs. I may have been the only one to manually place it on the tray. I have to find ways of remaining grounded even though I plot to be rich and boujie. A little manual labor never hurt anyone.

11:45am- round two of beverages! I get a ginger ale this time. I don't want to seem to lush on this flight. As to not disturb my reading the stewardess opens my smaller beverage tray an places my drink and snacks for me. I settle in to get some reading in.

11:56am - lunch is served! My single serving elderly friend is excited that we ordered the same meal. She apparently is bothered by conflicting smells of other food around her meal. Our conversation ends as we enjoy lunch. Notice how if you sit in first class you are entrusted with all the things that will give you 5 years in prison! LOL.. A metal Fork, Metal knife and glass dish ware. #InFirstClassWeTrust

12:15pm- lunch service tray is cleared. With a smile and pleasant banter of "I hope everything was to your liking!" is this really the same company that trains the coach flight attendants that are just 10 feet behind that sheer gray curtain. It's amazing what a small upgrade charge gets you.

12:26pm - dessert is served. Delightfully oatmeal raisin and cranberry cookie with a cold glass of milk served in a elegant wine glass. I refuse the cookie. I honestly just don't want anything else! What a wonderful feeling.

12:35pm - my single serving friend notices that I may be the youngest person in the first class area and asks "so what does your daddy do?" I laughed and said "never much of anything from what I recall!" she laughs and says! Oh! I am very sorry to pry! I tell her " I'm a big girl with a career path and hobbies that treat me well enough to allow me to treat myself well enough!" and with a beaming smile I get another "Good Girl!" I'm starting to really like this "good girl" business. I learn that her husband owned 3 businesses in hay day and sold them 5 years before he passed. She and he spent those years traveling and really enjoying each others company. Her biggest regret she said was "not treating themselves well enough, early enough to really enjoy it." I am advised not to make the same mistake.. It has been dually noted.

12:36pm- I really like drinking out of glass cups. Note to self, use more glass cups.

12:42pm - After staring out the window for what felt like total completeness, I had some very clear thoughts and epic moments of Eureka, I didn't jot down. This was the biggest #fail of the flight. I did note that indeed i was

1:21pm - we land safely. Back in NYC. My first class experience is almost over. As we taxi into the gate I am overcome with the need to humm the Mario brothers theme music. I don't stop myself, I just give in. As the plane stops, my last first class experience is about to take place; Lastly but not least,It's time to deplane, And we get to go first! Winning still even at the end!
